In an ever changing world, one of the best skills your kids can have is critical thinking. But how do you know as a parent they have learned this skill? Critical thinking (along with related soft skills: communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, etc.) are in high demand in the workplace because it’s a skill that’s been in decline.
This is a class for parents which teaches you how to cultivate these skills in your kids. It is also open to teens 17 and older. Course content is based on the wisdom of prominent works in critical thinking including Linda Elder and Richard Paul, Mortimer Adler, Rolf Reeber, Michael Strong, and others, as well as my own experiences as an independent researcher and peer-reviewer.
This class meets weekly for 10 weeks (beginning January 16) for Socratic discussion among your fellow parent-classmates with Kerry (the teacher) as your Socratic guide.
There are self-directed lessons and worksheets provided online for you to complete prior to each weekly discussion. (Upon completion of registration through PLANT, you’ll receive a followup email with instructions for logging into online lessons).
Please note: this class does not teach argumentation or apologetics.
