Many of us have been blessed to have been born in the greatest nation the world has ever seen and we have benefited from inheriting a socio-economic structure. Does your student know what makes a society work? Does he understand the benefits of civilization? Or a free market economy? If left on their own would today's students develop an idyllic Christian society of The Coral Island or denigrate into the savagery of Lord of the Flies?
The scenario is that the US has been destroyed - all but the area from south Texas north to Nebraska which is now an isolated island. Students have the job of rebuilding society. They must develop a government and write a constitution, as well as the history of the area, develop an economic plan, a foreign policy, explore archeology, develop or rediscover art and culture. It's the ultimate unit study that students create themselves!
For Ages 12+
This class has homework and group projects. Students will be expected to connect with fellow students on the band app in order to complete group projects. Please don't sign your student up if they have no interest in these topics. Students will have great leeway to apply their creativity but slackers may be asked to leave the island without a refund or worse they may be eaten!
