This first hour is games appropriate for ages 9-13 and will include games that are easier to learn and quick to play.

Description

Track 2 students will have the opportunity to play longer games that require more time and concentration.  This is meant for students who have experience playing board games and an attention span to play for more than an hour.  Do NOT sign your student up for this track if they have a shorter attention span.

This hour is for older students who want to play easier quick games. They must participate and behave appropriately.

Description

This track is for experienced game players who are interested in more difficult strategy games and who have the patience and attention span to play a 90 minute game. This track overlaps the younger track and inappropriate behavior or language will not be tolerated.

Track 5: Younger Level, 55 minutes, 12:30 PM (09/08/2026-12/01/2026)

Description

This track is appropriate for students ages 6-8 who are just learning to play games and learning to take turns, winning and losing, and becoming familiar with money.  This track overlaps with older students in the room who will be playing different games.

Description

Learn Economic Terms and Ideas Through Games

Through a variety of board games, card games and interactive activities students will learn about:

  • money
  • making change
  • spending, saving, sharing
  • investing
  • earning interest
  • inflation
  • types of assets
  • the commodities market
  • the benefits of trade
  • importance of bidding and prices
  • tragedy of the commons
  • scarcity and choice
  • resource management
  • trade-offs
  • company take-overs/mergers
  • the stock market

The class has three levels which may overlap so students have experience playing at different levels. Students who sign up for 90 minute block will have opportunity to play more in-depth strategy games but must have the attention span to do so.  Students must participate and demonstrate good sportsmanship and behavior or they will be asked to leave without a refund. Sorry, no eating in this class and students must wash hands before playing.
