Class Description
Sail the high seas with daring pirates! Climb the Tower steps with a captive princess! Build flying machines and print your very own books — all in one thrilling year of discovery and adventure!
Back by popular demand, this class is the exciting sequel to last year’s beloved Swords and Stories: Medieval Adventures, expanding our journey from the Middle Ages into the thrilling world of the Renaissance! This year, we’ll dive even deeper into history, entering an era of bold exploration, epic invention, and groundbreaking ideas. Through exciting stories, hands-on projects, and lively quests, students will become true "Renaissance men and women" — skilled in science, art, grammar, and theology — all through the lens of great literature.

Pirates and Princesses: Chart your course as you create detailed pirate maps and write swashbuckling tales of adventure.

Flying Machines: Step into Da Vinci’s workshop as you design and build flying machines and other inventions!

Printing Press: Feel the power of words by using a replica printing press to make your own books and news articles, just like Renaissance printers and reformers.

Shakespeare: Step onto the stage as we vote on and perform scenes from one of Shakespeare’s delightful comedies.
Throughout the year, we’ll explore famous historical figures:
Leonardo da Vinci — the inventor and dreamer
Michelangelo — the master artist
William Shakespeare — the great playwright
Martin Luther — the bold reformer
There are no tests — only quests! Every adventure is designed to spark creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and a love for history and literature. Students will come away with a deep appreciation for the richness of the Renaissance — and a portfolio of epic creations to prove it!
All students will NOT receive traditional letter grades unless requested by a parent.
