This Lego building class, inspired by the LegoMasters TV show, will challenge students to use their imaginations to build various challenges with their knowledge of Legos, structures they see around them, research they conduct and their imaginations. Each week will include a demonstration of a technique or special use of a brick part to spark imagination and/or mini-game or challenge to get students thinking. Teams of two or more students will work together on building a creation that meets the requirements of that week’s challenge. With access to a variety of Lego Bricks, Technic parts, gears, and motors, students will learn and practice skills of teamwork, planning, design, aesthetics, research, problem-solving, perspective, and critical thinking.
Students will not be allowed to bring any Lego parts to class nor take any parts from class.
Each week students will have two types of homework: 1) research for the following week’s challenge (research will include researching building structures, events, planning and zoning issues, utilities and more); and 2) complete a Home Challenge from Lego parts they have at home. Students will need to take pictures of their Home Builds and post them each week to band to be shared with the class.
Students will be expected to sort parts and bricks each week and to participate in break down and cleanup of parts.
Ages 6-12

My daughter had a blast in this class. Audrey is nuerodivergent and has a hard time reading and writing at “class level”. I really enjoyed that in this class, she was able to participate fully without any extra accommodations and able to work and socialize with her peers. She also developed a deeper passion for Lego building.
It was good. My favorite part was homebuilds and reviewing them in class with everyone.
This was a great class for my son! He loves playing with legos. This class gave his lego playtime structure and purpose. He loved attending each week!
I loved thinking of new things to create with legos. We had a lot of fun in the class. I learned about new things in my city. I hope to take another Lego class!
