Learn to Sew - Beginning Sewing Skills
In this class students will learn the basic skills of sewing on a sewing machine such as how
to thread a sewing machine, how to read and follow a pattern from start to finish. For this
class students will make 3 finished items; a pillow case, pajama pants; for girls a broomstick
style skirt, for boys a simple pair of shorts. No previous skills or sewing machine is needed.
You will need to purchase some supplies, if students want to work on sewing projects at
home. Students will also need to purchase fabric for their projects. This information will be
given in class.
Items needed: a good pair of scissors (fiskars) that will cut fabric, a pin cushion and a tape
measure and a bag to transport all of your supplies and sewing project in. I will provide
straight pins.
Target age for this class is age 9-19.
