Introduction to Personal Finance
This class is an introduction to money and finance. Topics include history of money, spending, saving, giving and investing, credit and debt, education, student loans, careers, entrepreneurship, income and taxes, marketing and consumerism, insurance, identity thief, and global economics. In addition to lectures, videos, and activities, we will launch our own business to gain important knowledge of how business works. Students will practice important skills such as counting money, budgeting using excel spreadsheet, marketing, Robert’s Rules of Order, customer service, pricing, reading financial statements, making choices among stocks, bonds or loans, and calculating discounts.
