Interactive US Government

In this interactive class, students will learn about the structure of the US Government and participate in acting out how it works!  Students will be expected to play major roles that will build their leadership skills. The class will be a combination of at home reading and study and in-class interactive practice.

• Two weeks of introduction to the Constitution and structure of government;
• Three weeks of simulating a real Supreme Court case: students will write briefs, conduct oral arguments, and write court opinions;
• Three weeks of mock legislature: students will practice parliamentary procedure, write bills and discuss the merits of various legislation;
• A mock election in which students will run for office and learn about how the electoral college works;
• Two weeks of executive simulation: during a national emergency the President, his cabinet, advisors and other key stakeholders must decide how to react. 

This is a mixed-age class.  High school students have the opportunity to participate in leadership roles while younger students can learn by participating in other roles. There will be something for everyone!
