A Renaissance in Science: An Introduction to Chemistry
Step into the age of discovery with A Renaissance in Science, an engaging introduction to the fundamental principles of chemistry. Designed for high school students, this course invites learners to explore the building blocks of matter and the transformative power of chemical reactions through the lens of curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
Using the OpenStax Chemistry 2e textbook as our guide, we will cover essential topics including atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, and more. Students will develop a strong foundation in scientific reasoning and problem-solving while gaining hands-on experience through demonstrations, experiments, and real-world applications.
This course emphasizes the spirit of the Renaissance—where science, art, and philosophy intersected to spark innovation and exploration. Students will not only learn the "how" of chemistry, but also the "why," connecting chemical concepts to historical context, modern technology, and global challenges.
Whether you're planning a career in the sciences or simply want to understand the world around you more deeply, A Renaissance in Science will equip you with the tools to think like a chemist and discover the beauty of the molecular world.
