Description

Students will learn how to build robots and program them to perform tasks and can help them develop a variety of skills:

  • Building: Students learn how to design robots and build them from LEGO bricks.  They may also learn how to use special elements like motors and sensors.
  • Programming: Students learn how to write programs to make their robots perform tasks. They may use drag-and-drop software to code their robots.
  • Problem Solving: Students learn how to solve problems by working together and communicating with their teammates.
  • Critical Thinking:  Students learn how to apply scientific ideas to real-world projects.
  • Communication:  Students learn how to communicate with their teammates.

Ages 10-14

This class changes schedule mid-semester and is not reflected in the class listing. Students who register will be registered for a second class beginning March 25 at no additional cost. 

From January 14-March 18 the class will meet from 9:15 - 10:25 am for one hour ten minutes.

Following the conclusion of Simple Chemistry on March 18 the class will meet from 9:15 - 11:00 until April 29. For a total of 21 hours of instruction.

Restrictions

Participants must be 8 years and 6 months to 14 years old when the program starts.
