How the World Works, Part 2

This class is Part 2 of How the World Works.  New and returning students are welcome.    We will study four more books this semester.   Is your child prepared to function as an adult?  Get ready because there is a lot to know!  This discussion-based course dives into the series called Uncle Eric’s Model of How the World Works by Richard J. Maybury.   We will lay the foundation for a basic working knowledge of politics, economics, law, and history.  Many home schoolers are familiar with one of the titles, What Ever Happened to Penny Candy?, but have not yet made use of the rest of the series.  Reading, note taking, and some additional (optional) writing and research assignments will be homework.  If you are building a transcript, this class could be one half credit in social science called “Geopolitics”. I encourage every family to get the whole set, but also have a limited number of books available to rent for $30/semester.                                

Required Books: 

1.  The Clipper Ship Strategy: For Success in Your Career, Business, and Investments

2. The Thousand Year War in the Middle East: How it Affects You Today 

3. World War I:  The Rest of the Story and How It Affects You Today, 1870-1935 

4.  World War II:  The Rest of the Story and How It Affects You Today, 1935-2001  

Prerequisite:  A basic knowledge of world history and geography is very helpful.
