Gamma level Math U See

This is a year-long course that spans throughout the entire academic year and includes 31 sessions (14 classes in Fall 2024 and 17 classes in Spring 2025 semester). Registration confirms your student’s spot for the year-long course. Once students have mastered the concepts of addition and subtraction, they are ready for multiplication. In this class, we will be learning single-digit multiplication facts and multiple-digit multiplication skills. I will be using the Math-U-See Gamma level curriculum and manipulatives in this class. Students are required to purchase their own Gamma student pack (includes student workbook and test booklet) and 1-inch binder and bring them on the first day of class.

Prerequisite:
● Students should have a strong understanding of place value
● Students should be able to add and subtract multiple-digit numbers including those which require regrouping and borrowing correctly.
● Students should confidently solve word problems involving multiple-digit addition and subtraction.

Major concepts that I will be teaching in this class this spring:
➢ Multiplying using strategies based on place value and properties of operation
➢ Fluently multiplying any combination of whole numbers
➢ Solving for an unknown factor
➢ Solving abstract and real-world problems involving addition, subtraction and multiplication.
➢ Measuring and computing area
➢ Relating concepts of area to addition and multiplication
➢ Adding and subtracting time in hours and minutes
➢ Multiplying , adding and subtracting U.S. currency and standard units of measure
➢ Representing, recording and interpreting data
➢ Understanding of basic fractions
➢ Estimating and solving measurement problems.

Students will be given homework in this class. In order to get a better grasp on the concepts taught in class, practice is very important. Homework assignments will be in
the form of practice worksheets related to concepts already taught in class.
